Ever wondered what truly sets impactful leaders apart?
Too many leaders fall back on strategies or tactics. But they are forgetting what really matters when it comes to leading other human beings.
Authenticity.
You show your team who you are through your actions and behaviors. And if those actions are not aligned with what you say, well, your team will notice. And they will behave accordingly.
When you lead with integrity and authenticity, you build trust and respect among your team. And your actions inspire and motivate your team. That fosters a positive and productive work environment. And it keeps your team engaged and committed, which drives real business results.
What qualities do you believe make a leader truly impactful? In your experience, what characteristics do the best leaders have in common?

If there is a piece of advice that you would give to other people who are in positions of responsible leadership within organizations—maybe not in hospitality, but it didn’t matter—what would you say?
What advice?
I think it is important to be genuine in what we, as leaders, say to our team and to follow through on our words.
People can see when you are genuine and when you truly care—it shows through your actions.
Therefore, act in alignment with what you say and be a role model. Otherwise, it just becomes empty talk without action. Everyone can see through that.
So, in any industry, a leader is well-loved when they not only possess great leadership skills but also demonstrate genuine care.
For example, in our company, we say, “We make each moment matter, and we care about what matters.” If I take the second part—*”We care about what matters”—*then I believe we must clearly show that we mean what we say and that everything we do reflects that statement. It is not just words.
Now, going back to the advice you would give an individual—you use the phrase “genuine in action.”
“Genuine in action.” That is a great way of putting it.
People need to see that what you do—through your body language, your time, your effort, your attention—is an authentic expression of what you truly care about.
Exactly.
That doesn’t mean you have to be perfect and do this 100% of the time in every moment of your life.
What I hear you saying is that although you could imagine striving for that, the key takeaway is this: If there is ever any doubt about whether you are genuine, you have already lost.
For people to believe in you, they have to see it.
They have to see it in your actions, your behavior, and your attitude.
It’s not just words—it’s action.
And this is not one of those “fake it till you make it” ideas.
It’s about finding it—and then finding a way to be it.
