Making my way around Mauritius, I find a little nugget of wisdom amongst the flora and fauna, a gift from the greatest caregiver of all, one might say, mother nature herself.
A perfect testament to the popular adage, a little goes a long way, this certainly holds true in the service industry.
By making just a little bit of effort, showing your customers you truly care about their experience can go a long way, as it will create loyal customers, as this gesture will forever be etched in their memories.

Hi, Ron Kaufman here on the beautiful island nation of Mauritius. And I’m standing inside an extraordinarily huge banyan tree, which is actually one organic tree that goes up and down and over and around and has roots that grow in every possible direction. Just an extraordinary example of how interconnected all of life really is.
What I’ve noticed on this trip is just how interconnected human beings are and how much we’ve all missed it over these past years. Came here to run some workshops with my wife Jen, and they’ve just gone beautifully. And one of the things that was most exciting about it was how much energy people had and joy and appreciation just for the privilege of being together.
I wanted to take a moment and say as all of us have more opportunities to be with other people who we know, who we care about and who we love. Well, I saw a little message here, and I thought I’d let the message speak for itself. But be the one to share it with you.
Remember, people may forget what you said and what you did, but they’ll never forget the way you made them feel. So as we reconnect with one another family, friends, customers, colleagues all over the world, and more of it does start happening again in person as well as on zoom, remember how much you can do to make somebody else feel good. If you can do it, it’s worth it.
