This is important. I was doing this in India  and a man brought his 16 year old son. And when I reached this part the kids started writing furiously. And I said “whoa I guess you think this is important” and he looked up at me and he said “Are you kidding? It’s  a competitive world out there.” And I realized that he was right. 

Watch what happens on Friday afternoon. Friday afternoon what will the girls at work be doing with each other? Chatting, right? And  what are they chatting about? What are you gonna do on the weekend? And  jasmine says “Well I’m going out with this guy” and her friends say “Oh, what guy” and she’ll say “Oh, just a guy” and they’ll say “Well, where did you meet him” and she’ll say “Well I met him at the food court”. Food  court? And then she’ll take out your card and say “Well I  think this one might be something special.” Now the girls are interested. Really? Why do you say that? Well he called me yesterday. He just wanted to know if I would rather that we get dressed up or if I’d rather that we go casual. At that moment what goes through the minds of all the girlfriends? I didn’t even have to say it right? So here’s the first thing that goes through their minds. “Listen  Jasmine, if it doesn’t work out for the two of you, could I have an introduction to that card?” So the desirability, the reputation and the demand for that service. I’m sorry GUY that service provider just went up. But here’s the scary thing. Here’s another thought that goes through the mind of all those women. My boyfriend never made that call and just like that man every other man who never made that call slipped down because one guy stepped up. Now  ladies I have bad news for you. I  got hundreds of men here sitting and you know what they’re thinking? Yeah  he spoiled the market. But  in business you don’t have the option to decide what your competitors are going to do. Nor  do they have a choice about holding you back from adding more value by doing a better job. So  if you want service to become your competitive differentiator, if you want to be able to get the clients who are willing to pay the fees for the better service, don’t wait for somebody else to do it and then you follow. You be the one that steps up and lead.
